Decreased Ovarian Reserve
Ovarian Reserve: refers to the number of eggs and follicles remaining in the ovaries.
Decreased ovarian reserve is characterized by a decrease in remaining eggs, or in egg development and recruitment. At times fertility specialists may look at you age to determine the quality of the remaining eggs, while doing a variety of tests to determine how many eggs are left or your 'ovarian age'. There are times where one may follow the other, but there are many times were actual age and ovarian age do not correlate.
Acupuncture & Chinese herbal medicine can help in many ways:
Our goal is to increase eqq quality, health and responsiveness which in turn will increase the health of developing embryo.
There is growing evidence that acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine can have an effect on the quality and health of eggs in the ovaries. Our goal is to focus on the many factors that can affect ovarian reserve such as: acupuncture, Chinese herbs, diet exercise, nutrition, emotions, and environment (such as expose to increase toxins and pollutants).
Acupuncture can benefit ovarian reserve by regulating and normalizing reproductive hormone levels, improving ovarian responsiveness to gonadatropins, increasing blood flow to the ovaries, improving oocyte maturation, and helping to remove the build-up of environmental toxins in the body.
Optimizing the ovarian reserve involves:
- Decreasing degeneration and re-absorption of an ovarian follicle before it reaches maturity
- Optimizing the ovarian function by balancing the hypothalamus-pituitary-ovarian communication
- Reversing the characteristics of ovarian aging
- Replenishing and restoring the follicle supply
